AMAZON FOREST We all know the fact that the Amazon is the largest forest in the world. Comparing to India, the Amazon is larger in its size. It is a moist broad leaf tropical forest which covers more than 40% of South America. It is particularly called as the 'Lungs of the world' as it sucks up global emission of carbon di oxide and gives oxygen. 20% of the world's oxygen comes from Amazon forest. Nine countries share the Amazon basin —most of the rainforest , 58.4%, is contained within the borders of Brazil. The other eight countries include Peru, Columbia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guyana and Ecuador.
