Save Water To Save Life
I had an essay writing competition last month in which they asked us to write about the importance of water and saving measures to water and they allotted Rs.10000 as first prize, Rs.6000 for second prize and Rs.4000 as third prize. In this competition many of the schools participated including my school. If our school had given this notice to all students then every student will be participating, so our Principal decided to make this competition only to first three rank holders only in our school.
In this method I was selected in the competition as I was holding second rank. In that time I had lot of works to do so, I had forgotten the competition. The last date to submit the essay came and my friend came and asked to me "Where is your essay? I think you will be getting any prize". I was shocked to hear that because I did not start even a single letter. After that I did not submit my presentation and now I am feeling that why I had forgotten about that essay and now I am having a lot of ideas to write about it.
A few are,
→ Every house must have Rain water harvesting system and should have a bore or sump or tanks to fill the collected rain water.
→ We should not extract so much of ground water because if our underground aquifers are drained we cannot use our ground water whenever we needed. → We should not build buildings wherever needed. We should build buildings in such a way that rain water can seep into the soil and recharge our underground aquifers.
Some interesting facts,
In Gujarat the people who live there build buildings in a square shape leaving a large place inside which is covered with soil and no roof as if the rain water can seep into the soil easily. This method is called Baoli.
The govenment of Tamilnadu has brought some rules to prevent sand grabbing from rivers which affects the seepage of rain water into the ground. Soil is very important to save water in our aquifers.
